Analysis
The track is played in the key of concert D minor in a 4/4 - 3/4 - 5/4 polymetric structure, along with a steady tempo of approximately 80 BPM throughout.
Introduction
The track starts with a somber citole melody, accompanied by a plucked cello. An occasional percussive hit is heard from the cello to provide a counterbeat to the introduction, building suspense for the first melody.
Main melody
A violin joins the citole and cello, playing the main melody twice; the first at a low octave and the second at a higher octave and with a slight crescendo.
Bridge
Then, the ensemble plays a melody with a concert A-pedaled staccato-like ostinato and is repeated four times. This type of melody is then followed by a transition-like chorus that is played four times (with each time being a lowered modulating sequence every four bars), before moving to a variation of a concert D-concert A staccato-like ostinato. This is played three times, with each repetition building a crescendo back to the first melody.
Main melody (repeated)
The ensemble plays the main melody four times at the same high octave as before. The main D minor chord is then played, emphasizing the minor add7 note (concert C), back to the D minor chord, then emphasizing the major 6th note (concert B instead of A#). This process repeats and stops after the first emphasized note (changed from a B to a D minor 4).
Bridge (repeated)/Outro
Then, the melody transitions back to the concert D-concert A ostinato (played before) and is repeated four times. At the third and fourth repetition, the ensemble slightly decrescendoes and plays the modulating sequence again four times with a faster decrescendo, ending in concert D.
